Covenant Baptist Church - Spring 2008

Happenings ...

Growing pains ....

Covenant Baptist Church is in the process of making changes to our website. These changes are necessary if the website is to progress in the manner we believe to be best, but along with these changes come some bumps and stumbles. We appreciate your patience as these difficulties are ironed out.

Pastor William I. Brown announces his retirement

Pastor William I. Brown announced his intention to retire during the Sunday evening service, Oct 10. Pastor Brown is 75 years old and has served faithfully at Covenant Baptist Church for the past 52 years.

Please remember Pastor as well as the church in your prayers as we search for the Lord's man to shepherd His flock here at Covenant. The church also would welcome recommendations from anyone aware of one of the Lord's called men who is searching for a church. If any would have a recommendation, please contact the church by clicking here.

Last Sundays' Sermons

Due to issues relating to changes made on our website, we have several sermons to highlight.

Pastor preached a Thanksgiving-centered message the Sunday morning prior to Thanksgiving, using Psalm 100 as his text: "Worship and Thanksgiving"

The following Sunday morning Pastor continued in the Thankgiving spirit with his message entitled "Thanksgiving for the Cross", using Isaiah 52:13~53:12 as his text. In the evening service Pastor spoke from Acts 8:26~40 on "The Salvation of the Ethiopian Eunuch"

Due to technical difficulties, last Sunday's AM message is not available. In the evening Pastor spoke on the "Burden of the Lord" from Genesis 18. This is a must-hear message on the seriousness of being a believer.

Adult Sunday School lessons on CDs

Covenant has begun recording our Adult Sunday School Class for the benefit of those who's work schedules will not allow them to regularly attend on Sunday mornings. The series presently being taught is the Book of Galatians by Bro. Allen Lefkovitz, picking up at chapter five. Sadly we did not start this at the beginning of Bro. Allen's series but at least all those studies are available in PDF format on our RESOURCES web page. The lessons currently available on CDs are as follows:

Galatians 5:7~12, "A Little Leaven Leavens the Whole Lump"

Incredible Local-Church Sermon Series!

Pastor Brown has been preaching a series of messages on Sunday evenings concerning the members' responsibilities to their local church. These are messages which must be heard and passed along to others in this age of lackadaisical, apathetic attitude towards church membership. You may download by right-clicking the sermon titles and saving them to your computer. These sermons among others may also be found on the SERMONS web page.

Adult Sunday School Series: Galatians

The notes for all of Bro. Allen Lefkovitz' lessons on Galatians are now beginning to become available in PDF format. Bro. Allen has just finished chapter two and started into chapter three. These notes have also been added to the RESOURCES web page. Be sure to check out his notes for an assured blessing!
"JUSTIFICATION" - Several Sundays back we discussed the definition of justification as part of the book of Galatians. In light of that, Bro. Allen wanted to make available an article written by Albert Barnes concerning this topic. Read, enjoy, pass along to others, and rejoice in the finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ on the behalf of His people.
